I decided on my occupation when I was about 10 years old, made it happen and it's been good to me.
Figured I'd get married and have kids, check and double check. Vacationed in 6-8 foreign countries.
I owe no one, and have enough money banked to not fear a sudden "emergency" (i.e. car or home repair).

Yeah, most of childhood expectations have come through. Now just trying to make sure my kids are decent human beings (so far so good), then I'll consider my job well done.

Better than I thought, I didn't prepair for retirement at all but the cards fell right and am better off than when I was working. Made a couple good business decisions in my 60s that allowed us to pay everything off. With two really nice vehicles and a warm dry place all paid for doesn't take much to live pretty comfortable.
