How would you invest 1000$

I recently invested $1000 in this. http://americanpatriotevent.com/
I have a buddy who is a pretty salty team roper and he made the qualifier and he needed a sponsor. I covered his $1000 entry and as his sponsor, I get half of any winnings. Pays to 10th place at $10,000 but I'm hoping he gets 1st. ($100,000). There are 180 teams so odds are good.
Might just end up being a $1000 vacation night at the Stock Yards in Ft. Worth but either way, its gonna be fun.

I ended up putting it into savings for the time being. My work is not going well roght now so I better keep it handy just in case we shut down for a little while.

Probably a good choice considering your circumstances. My self included but it seems most people that are asking how to invest $1000 may be best suited to keeping it in cash or a secondary savings account that doesn't get touched. Cash is King with things go south. As in when money is tight and your car or a major appliance in your home takes a crap, or any other crisis that requires immediate cash. Hoarding cash is a good thing.
