Given today's ammo & magazine climate... How much and how many is/are enough?

I would do a poll, but I truly have no idea of where to begin! I realize that mags are basically disposable and ammo is dependent on how often you shoot...but when facing a ban and a (rumored) potentially ridiculous tax, where does one draw the line?

My ex father in law shoots one deer a year.
He has killed 19 deer in 19 years. One bullet to go in that box of 20, 30-30.
I don't figure he will need more than one more box.
That's enough for him.

I'm talkin' personal stash... What is your comfort zone for "general" preparedness?

Not one-man-war-machine level or once a year hunter, but willing to fight for God & Country.

And let's not dismiss the zombies....

You know...enough to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

I'm 62 years old and could never buy another round and I promise, I'll never run out. I'd hate to see a ban for the sake of the young members, but it sure don't scare me one bit.

100 rounds per range visit per month x 12 months = 1200 per year per gun
how many calibers do you have.
I try to keep a 3-4 year stock in each caliber to avoid problems like we are currently experiencing.
this way I can continue shooting, then restock when prices stabilize.
Also I always buy $20 worth of ammo of some sort every time I go in a walmart.
