I grew up in southern Indiana. In the 60's and 70's we had a very anti gun political faction in the state led by a democrat congress critter named Birch Bayh who was a total sleaze bag worthless pos who should have been tried for numerous high crimes and accepting bribes and kickbacks. Everything any gun owners association tried to do in the state for concealed carry, rifle hunting for deer etc,. was shut down immediately. His son Evan Bayh was just as bad as his father.

What about the nra you ask? We couldn't get any help from them either just talk but the nra did work out one of their great compromise deals (and acted like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread) to allow a hunting and target license that everyone and their damn brother had to sign off on. I almost was thrown out of the meeting with the nra when they announced their great compromise when l kept pressing the nra representatives about what the 2nd Amendment stated and what did SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED mean to American citizens.

Things have changed in Indiana the past 10-12 years and they are finally becoming a free state.
