I really prefer the cross draw at about 3:00 for my 1911 compact. For a smaller gun, mostly 5:00

depends but usually right around 3 or so. It will vary with what I am wearing but not much fluctuation from just in front of the hip to just behind it.

I carry at 4:00. Any further back and it digs into my back when I'm sitting and the draw is slower. My second favorite is appendix carry (1:00-2:00)

I carry a 4" K frame at 3:00 with about a 20 degree cant. It rides easy and is easier to draw even while sitting.

For me it depends on the level of concealment. With my SIG P229 SCT, which is a fairly large gun, it's most comfortable at about 3:30-4 in my Crossbreed supertuck. However, if I'm going to tuck in a shirt and I won't be wearing a jacket, I wear it at about 1:45-2. That way I don't end up with a bulge on my right hip. And, yes, even with a super stiff belt, it still makes your hips look asymmetric and weird if you carry at the 3-4 position with a shirt tucked in. It is VERY difficult to notice if I'm wearing it at the appendix position.

I carry @ bout 3:00 most of the time. But it is always some between 2-4.
