That's my favorite movie by the Duke, hands down. I also think it is, far and away, his best acting.

Me too, I just wish the ending wasn't a sellout. I like him better before the change of heart. Even then, that ending scene in the doorway is so iconic that you have to like it.

Also always liked The Quiet Man.

That doorway shot was a tribute to Harry Carey senior. Junior played the character whose fiancé was butchered by the Indians. Junior was a stock character in many JW movies.

I'll watch anything - and everything(!) - that John Wayne ever filmed.

But I have to admit that "The Quiet Man" is my favorite. [Which was, coincidentally, filmed in the year I was born. And that makes me ancient. :D ]
