Kabar didn’t only make fighting knives for the military. They made hunting and utility knives as well. This is one of those.
If someone ever used it in theater or in the field, it would have been a commercial purchase, probably in the Exchange or off post.

After closer inspection, the blade looks like it was used to do some chopping. I got the edge mostly cleaned up though. I need to get a pommel from Jantz and shape it as close to the original as possible
the USMC style Ka-Bars have a partial tang 3/8x3/16 that goes all the way up to the guard,from the pommel, the blade blank is stamped out, and it leaves 2 90 degree corners,right at the guard, while these knives are great to use and make good field knives,DO NOT use one for chopping as it will break the handle off at the guard,plenty of pics online of broken Ka-Bars from someone who tried some batoning or chopping with one and broke it...medium duty knives..DO NOT use one as a sharpened pry bar.
