I was barely. Growing up in the 70's with a distant dad and a mom who was the polar opposite. Times were tough on our family. I hope and pray I am a good husband to my wife and a good father to my children.

You are right. Your kids will remember the word you use to describe them or characterize them. It's been hard for me to learn to say things that build them up. It's not what I experienced growing up.
