He’s not wrong, know many instances where bad/cheap and thin leather holsters have been the cause of accidental/ Negligent discharges
I'm not sure I'd consider Galco a bad or cheap holster brand. The instance I cited was clearly operator error in failing to replace a holster he knew to be worn. Leather holsters are great, but they can have a service life.

Thank you for citing the example, and I agree, Operator error was the case. I'd hazard a guess that the crease was actually caused by his chunky ass wearing the holster regularly WITHOUT the gun in it. Leather forms to fit. If the gun were IN the holster while he was wearing it, than I doubt the crease would have formed the way it did.

That solidly puts the situation in a category of neglect, as opposed to an actual failure of equipment. Same as if someone got a shirt stuck in a Kydex shell, causing a gun to discharge.

I personally, edc a Glock 19 in a Desantis IWB. It's at least 2x as thick as the example above, and after 3-4 years, it still hasn't deformed in any way other than to fit the gun....but the gun is always in it too. I think that makes a big difference.

Not that I'm claiming leather to be superior, just my preference. I use Kydex for both my sub-compact, and my OWB full-size with WML. It's all personal preference and what works best for you, in your style of carry, and that particular gun.
Practice due diligence and always maintain your equipment.

Didn't see that was a Galco, I was speaking more to some of the cheap uncle mikes etc, but yes the leather ones, (I used to run the Bianchi) definitely have a service life.

I’m a whore for a good leather holster, but for IWB my favorites are the crossbreed, leather against your body with kydex shell on the gun. Here’s one for your 43: The Reckoning Holster

I run one of their dual clip models for my Mk25 and it is great!

just ordered a crossbreed. Saw one left in stock on sale on Midway so I snagged it.
