This is on a 2007. Anyone tackle one before? It is internal and driven by the timing chain so it is going to stink.
Ford has holding tools for the 5.4, so I'd guess they have the same for the Duratecs.Ouch! It books at 13.5 hours. You may need to make something to hold the cams at TDC, like a flat piece of metal. Have fun and tell us how close you get to 13.5.
Are you a mechanic? Only reason I ask is the book hours as in can anyone find those or just mechanics.Ouch! It books at 13.5 hours. You may need to make something to hold the cams at TDC, like a flat piece of metal. Have fun and tell us how close you get to 13.5.
AllDataDIY (AllDataDIY.com) shows the book hours for procedures. It also shows the manufacturer's procedures, torque specs, special tools, etc. IIRC, it's $25/year for the first car, then a reduced rate for any additional cars you want to add.Are you a mechanic? Nice, I am sitting here right now just dreading this job. I have not done an internal one before so I need to watch some videos on how to do it. At least learn a few tricks to make it easier.Yes, I am a mechanic, but I don't pay a subscription. I have access to AllData that goes up to 2011.
I already have that many or more just is procrastination and dread. I will time the actual labor.Ouch! It books at 13.5 hours. You may need to make something to hold the cams at TDC, like a flat piece of metal. Have fun and tell us how close you get to 13.5.
