If TSA had been the ones to detain him (and his T-shirt not contained words like "bombs" and what not), I could see a legitimate gripe, but seeing as how the airline booted him and his shirt was plastered in stuff that could hurt business for the airlines (i.e. threatening stuff to the non-internet-lingo-savvy), he's got no leg to stand on.

Double edge sword, In exchange for not taking my guns, I agree to my "responsibility as a citizen" to not be a flagrant A-hat. This guy in exchange for the privilege NOT RIGHT as delta is still a privately held company, should learn not to be a douche. I am not saying he did anything illegal, just stupid. Instead of saying, gee maybe these bigots have caused a scene and due to the sensitivity of the other passengers i could be a bigger man and change my shirt and go on with my day. He has decided to elevate the situation. and we will probably find out, like a real American he isnt doing it for principal but for potential lawsuit/money or his 15 minutes of fame. I am so tired of having to take everyones "rights" and "sensitivities" into account that mine are out right trampled on or ignored. Do people not realize that by elevating these situations they are not only empowering the true bigots but also reinforcing the stereotypical fears/concerns people have. hate to say it, but there is not that fine a line in the governments eyes these days between "activist" and "terrorist"

Oh come on, this is as ridiculous as when the hottie with the low cut shirt was booted from a flight for being too sexylicious. It's just a t-shirt, get over it. Overreacting to it is just wasting everyone's time.

Give him a second or two to recover, and he will be around.

I saw a LADY booted off a plane at a stop for looking at porn on her laptop on a flight, so I guess thats a violation of the 1st?

What I find funny is many people on this very board if the subject were guns not tshirts in a private business would be screaming about how wrong it is for the business not to let you exercise your rights. All he was doing was expressing his 1st Amendment rights. He, according to the article, did not make a scene. The TSA saw nothing wrong with the shirt, it was a Delta employee that made a big deal about the thing. Now lets change to private businesses. If this would have happened at Quick Trip or 7/11 and involved a gun everyone here would be petitioning those establishments. So lets say you walk into one of those places and you talk to your neighborhood police officer who you know and knows you carry. He says nothing, then because you dropped a quarter on the ground you bend over and the store employee sees your gun and asks you to leave. It is not quite the same but close. This guy is an a-hat for wearing a shirt that makes fun of the TSA. The TSA had no issue with it, however some power tripping Delta employee with zero sense of humor got offended. Then after that too many over zealous people got involved at what was the most exciting thing to happen to them that week. The guy did nothing wrong and his political speech should be protected.

I had heard stories about passengers being denied boarding at Louis Armstrong because they decided to drink all night before catching an early flight. Got to see it i action a couple of weeks ago. There was a minor league football team on our flight which was booked full four of them were wandering around the terminal power drinking beer and were very loud. We had 4 empty seats on our flight from Louis Armstrong to DFW. I was glad they did it actually, I wasn't happy about being on a flight with loud obnoxious jerks that didn't have enough common sense to understand that they were acting like horses asses.

I always wear a collared shirt and slacks when I fly, it may not matter as much now days but, it used to be that was the way to assist in a first class bump when you were on the standby list gate agents had discretion on who they bumped up.

There is no universal right to fly on an airplane. This guy decided to stand out and try to make a point...and he got the attention he wanted.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

First thing I thought as I was reading the report.

Where's Glocktogo when we need him ?

I got your back bro! :D

The TSA could've made him change the shirt before allowing him into the Sterile Area. Jokes about bombs in an airport are taken VERY seriously. They obviously screened him and determined that he was merely an azzhat, who was exercising his rights while judgement impaired. That's the part everyone forgets. Just because you have a right, does not MAKE you right. You can be fully within your rights and be completely wrong. Your 1st Amendment rights allow you to burn the US flag as a form of protest, but you're wrong if you do it. The Delta pilot recognized that this guy was wrong, exercised his judgement as Pilot In Command that it would cause civil unrest on board the aircraft and denied him passage. As PIC, that's within his authority.

With rights come responsibilities. Some people care nothing about the responsibilities, only the rights. :(
