Looking for a good one for my 8 and 9 yr old. Seems like every school I find closes down in 3 months or so. Hoping for one that has been in business awhile. Ive taken just about everything so all recommendations welcome.

As mentioned above Lovato's is legit and well established. USA Stars in Moore is what I'd recommend especially for kids, the Judo instruction there is top notch and they instruct in a few other disciplines as well.

Jack Hwang is the school I recommend when someone asks, he came to America with my instructor about 50 years ago and has been in business since the 70s at least. I'm very dubious of white boys teaching an oriental martial art, I took my daughter for 2 years to a school in Moore and after about 6 months it became more about money than actually teaching someone an art form. Of course I take Muay Thai from a white boy but the vibe is alot different and there are only 4 of us who train under him so it is definitely not about the money.

I've heard nothing but good things about USA Stars. Also, not necessarily a martial art, but Conan's in Norman is well established and taught by the best. I mean, Conan trained with Chuck Norris for God's sake!

I assure you the gym he described is not USA Stars, which is Pat Burris' gym and he is definitely qualified to instruct Judo - you can google the guy and read about him. He competed at the Olympic level in Judo as a competitor and later as a coach and some of the people that train there now now are also competing at very high levels. They are legit for sure.

No the gym I described is ran by the head of the North American Korean Martial Arts Association and as far as qualifications go they have that covered, the female instructor is a gold medal olympic winner and the owners 2 sons are both gold medalists. It's not qualifications its the commercialism behind it that got to me.

Wow, that's rough. You'd think that to compete at that level they have to have a real passion for their discipline and that sort of a thing wouldn't be an issue. But business & money changes all kinds of people.
