WTH is Mk262, I didn't know the US mil had a 77gr loading.

Its a high pressure/velocity 77gr round. There is also the marksman accuracy, which is a 77gr round developed for the military under contract.

I just dont see why Mk262 is desired. I have seen SMK 77s that are within SAAMI specs group better than Black Hills Mk262. Like almost an inch better at 100yrds. Hornady TAP 75s have outperformed Mk262 as well using SAAMI specs, though groupings at 100yrds are usually only .5" better.

The faster it goes, the more deader things get.

Mk262 is classified as an Open-Tip Match round...both the 77 SMK and the 75 Hornady Match are HPBTs.

I have no idea if it's legal for deer, but I hear it does wonders on hogs!

HPBT's are not recommended for hunting. They aren't made to expand like you think a hollow point would. That' doesn't mean that it wouldn't work.

Basically looking for a load to use in my almost complete Mk12 Mod1 clone. Its a 18" 1:8 twist barrel. Looking for a load that does well out to 600 meters w/ 2650-2800fps . Ill be using Nosler or Lapua brass, CCI #41 primers and topping them off with 77gr SMK or Nosler 77gr HTBT. Looking for powder options and a starting weight as well as any ballistic info that you have for that load.

-Basically brought up the MK262 because thats what is fielded in the MK12 Rifle.
