Basically looking for a load to use in my almost complete Mk12 Mod1 clone. Its a 18" 1:8 twist barrel. Looking for a load that does well out to 600 meters w/ 2650-2800fps . Ill be using Nosler or Lapua brass, CCI #41 primers and topping them off with 77gr SMK or Nosler 77gr HTBT. Looking for powder options and a starting weight as well as any ballistic info that you have for that load.

-Basically brought up the MK262 because thats what is fielded in the MK12 Rifle.

They also use Marksman Accuracy, which, IMHO would be better if you are trying to achieve accuracy at long range and maintain fps. Do a google search on it, I think its still pretty high pressure (but within SAAMI) and the bullet is slightly lighters (but still heavy in the world of .223).

The Sierra Manual has the following listed:

The test rifle is an AR-15 with 20” barrel and 1-7 twist.

AA-2520
Beg load - 21.5gr, velocity 2,400
Max load – 24.2gr, velocity 2,700

TAC
Beg load – 21.8gr, velocity 2,500
Max load – 24.0gr, velocity 2,750

I ‘m getting the best accuracy out of 23.8gr of TAC. I’m using LC brass and Wolf primers (just because I have a bunch) I worked up to this load. No pressure problems but they are hot.

I have a 1-7 twist 16” barrel AR-15.

Not sure i know that ive seen boxes from Black Hills marked mk262, but the red box 77gr SMK may be a close load or could be the very same thing with a differant name "wolf in sheeps clothing"....

-HK33 Thanks for the load data, just the type of stuff i was looking for.
