I like matching pairs of handguns in rimfire and centerfire,,,
I like them so much I have collected several pairs.

I own a 6" S&W 686 and almost bought a 617 similar to yours,,,
But then I noticed that the frame sizes were different,,,
That would have driven my OCD personality nuts.

Now you just need to get a nice wooden case for them to live in.

This post is gonna make one hard to turn down if I ever see one when I have some cash.. Any thoughts for or against the shorter barrel. My 686 is a 4”. So getting a 617 in the same barrel length sounds appealing to someone who never gave it a lot of thought nor shot one.

This thread is actually useful to me (sort of). I always thought all 617s were 10 shot, but I now know that they come in 6 and 10 shot varieties. That's good knowledge to have for the future when I can never convince myself to spend that much money on a 22lr gun even though I've wanted one for years now. 😁 😁

I want a 22/32 Kit gun again. I had one that was stolen along with my other guns years ago. Loved that little 22.

Seems that for whatever reason, the 8" pulls a premium on the 617 but is a value detractor on the 686s.

I just like long barrels so 8" is the only way to go!

I shot CCI CB Shorts out of my 16" Roughrider and it was comical...although I've not shot them out of anything else for comparison.
I was honestly concerned about a squib so didn't shoot a bunch.
