Just started reloading 30-06 today hopefully won't have any problems shooting. 165 gr bullet loaded with IMR 4064 with a cci primer.

Those look good. What rifle will you be shooting them from? Try a few with the same load but without the crimp and see if it changes your accuracy any between the two.

You do not need to crimp into the cannelure, unless you are shooting them through a gas gun. Crimp just adds to the pressure curve. Remmy brass and Hornady SST's will be good medicine for whitetails. You should be able to run those around 2700-2800 with no problem.

Back off the body of the seater die, and then readjust the seating plunger to get the correct depth.

It would probably take less than a turn to get no crimp.

What I would do would be to back the seating plunger out some, back out the whole die several turns, then fully raise the press ram with an empty piece of brass. Adjust the die back in until it just contacts the rim - you'll feel resistance - go slow. Then back it out 1/4-1/2 turn. Lock the die in, then adjust the plunger until you get back to the correct seating depth.

i get really good accuracy with a similar load. 165gr a-max and 48gr of IMR 4895. easily 1 inch at 100 and 2-3 inches at 200. thats with me shooting, so i'm sure accuracy could improve!
