Get a polymer now and a 1911 later.

I have 3 polymers now, XD,M&P, and a SigPro and my dad can't stand it. He says in 50 years they will fall apart, that just remains to be seen. I will eventually sell my Sig when the time is right and buy a 1911 because there are some very beatiful 1911's out there. But I have seen a lot of 1911's in the classifieds lately, so there goes the whole "keeping them for your kids and grandkids" argument (for some part anyway).

Well I saw a RIA 1911 for $399 and a m&p 9 for $459 and g19 for $509. Which would be a better deal? Not sure cuz they're all an awesome deal compared to what things go for herein Enid

Good choice! In your position, I would have gone with the G19 or M&P9. If you're going to get a 1911, get a good one! Use the extra money you saved to buy a bunch of ammo.

Just curious, why is everyone recommending G19's instead of the G17?

I'm not a Glock lover, but thats a good question. It was the first/original Glock, and around here it seems like to own one or shoot one is some kind of taboo. When I did shoot/play with Glocks its what I had a G17.

I can't remember the OPs use, but I got the G19 because I wanted to carry it also. If I was playing the shooting games, I'd probably move to either the 17 or the 34.

The G19 is just enough smaller than the G17 that is easier to carry, but sacrifices little to it in terms of recoil control and accuracy.
