Prayers for your son and you and your family. I think you're doing the right thing, I would list them here, unless you want them out of your name, then consign them to a FFL. Or you could list them here and have them transferred. Do what makes you feel best.

I would check with @SPDguns he's not really a buyer/seller but is usually open to a good deal, if you're willing to take what Bass Pro or a pawn shop would give you, I wouldn't be surprised if he would at least give you that or better. He is an FFL, so if you're concerned with someone getting it with ill intent, he would have a form 4473 and NICS to weed out the ineligible, and a record of sale.
