Not really much use in exploring alternative fissionable fuels. All of our efforts need to be on fusion generation. IMHO.

I could be wrong, but I believe reliable fusion power is still a very long way off. IF existing plants could be converted to the new fuel it would be an improvement. If not it might still prove a more reliable source in the long run.

$250 million sounds like a lot of money, until you realize that the cost for a single deepwater offshore rig runs in the neighborhood of $600,000 a day now. And that's just the cost to drill. One of the newer deepwater platforms costs a billion or two more.
