NW Oklahoma Elk Season

I just hope I get my elk rifle back in time for my January New Mexico elk hunt. I have a rifle that will work here for Oklahoma.

I am having a heavy sporter weight Krieger barrel chambered in .300 win mag put on and trued to a Savage action and bedded in a McMillan stock. It will be light mountain rifle. I have a .300RUM Sendero set in a fully adjustable Mcmillan Stock. Its heavy but it will shoot em tight. It would work on Oklahoma Elk because, I wouldn't have to carry it far.

The talk of an elk rifle is interesting to me (as well as methods of hunting.) I don't want to hijack this thread so I think I'll open a new one and get the Oklahoma perspective of elk hunting and rifles.

As I understand it Elk is open Statewide (public land) but each area differs by "geographical section" in regards to limits/total quota. Big herd in Dewey county around Webb/Camargo.

Do u think they run the river as far as tologa? Or rhea, aledo area?
