To add to your description of the "expectations" of those back east, I had a cousin that used to be a toll booth person on the Will Rogers Turnpike, right at the Oklahoma line. Some of those people would come through his booth and ask if the Indians were on the warpath.

Not true, unless things have changed.

Worked for my oldest brother in his truck repair shop in Sherman, TX in the late '70s. I called OK tax commission, and they informed me that I DID have to pay OK state income tax on my Texas earnings.

The lady said that I live in OK and had to pay OK state income tax. The fact that I chose to work in another state didn't matter.

Texas has no state income tax. You only pay OK.
