I would get her the wooden music box. See if you can get one with a lullaby. That way she can put her baby treasures in it (get one with a lid that opens) like a lock of hair and the first lost tooth. That may make up for Mother's day.

I could only find "lullaby" with the 18 note movement... the price goes up with more notes, you can have anything engraved there too!!

Dave, you're doing the right thing but carefully selecting an anniversary gift. Gifts (and lack of planning for) were one of my major screw-ups when I was married. I'm terrible at that kind of thing and it showed. Do a great job on this one and every one from here on out. Don't be like me! ;-)
