Oklahoma legislators to get 35 percent pay raise

Pretty good pay plus benefits for a four month legislative session.

In addition to their base salary, Oklahoma lawmakers receive travel and meal reimbursement and health and retirement benefits that bring their total average compensation to about $54,992, according to information compiled by OMES. The median household income for an Oklahoma family was about $50,000 in 2017, according to U.S. Census Bureau statistics.

All I know is I hope the rest if the legislature are blessed with more common sense than the reps from my area.

And how much did Oklahoma teachers receive? Was it $10,000? Mom too those in the Oklahoma legislatiure are there for the part-time pay, they have real jobs in the private sector. They do put up with a lot, but very few of them are cursed at, shoved and struck during the course of the day-teachers are... Which group has the greater responsibility and development of our citizens? Teachers usually have. dead-end job for 20 plus years but some of these guys in the state legislature use their positions as a springboard for national politics or to make more money and htat is what it's all about.

My question, when it comes to the educational system is WHY are there so many School Superintendents in the state with at least half of them getting over 100k a year in salary.

I wish my wife got a $10k raise . . . I think it was actually a little over $5k, but her district already pays a little more than the state minimum so she may have gotten a little more in benefits by the time it's all said and done. I didn't look at her most recent contract before she signed it to get a total.

You know, they (and superintendents for that matter) should have their pay linked to the lowest paid public school teacher/staff member in the state. None of them should be making more for a part time job. Just surprised that none of the teachers that were recently elected though of this.

Maybe the Governor should veto this..

No, 22 years with no pay raise and the average inflation each year has caused an increase of 66%

May be excessive. I don't know. I do know that I wouldn't put up with that B.S. for 42 Grand per year. And, sure not for 35. You have to have a real job to hold one of these jobs.

So, when it’s time for re-election, I plan on placing my vote on someone who will take care of us.

Dont give any credit where it's due. These legislators do one hell of a lot and I bet those complaning here dont know the first thing about it.
And the one you vote in next gets the pay raise too.
