Visa, Mastercard and American Express announced in 2022 the companies would start using a code to categorize the transactions involving firearms.
Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt voiced his opposition for the push at a Las Vegas gun show this week.
"We're not [going to] let big banks, processing companies, payroll companies discriminate against our assets," Gov. Stitt said. "I'm the governor of Oklahoma and if you're a manufacturer in Oklahoma, and we're trying to promote our assets, it's the last thing I'm going to let happen."
