I think it’ll smash down and be fine if your flange has made a good seal and it’s held down well. So… this horned wax ring is not sized correctly for the smaller size waste pipe, and not sitting down on the flange like it should…. Correct? View attachment 284717View attachment 284718
I’ve never caulked around one and I’ve probably set 20 or more toilets. I have had to use shims if there was bad tile work.not supposed to have to calk around base of toilet if everything is set right. that said i do a lot of the time!
I have read that article in the past. So I take it you caulk around your toilets? All the toilets at UCO were replaced with low water usage toilets I was there replacing them.
Every one of them was caulked around the base.
Many semi truck loads of toilets and faucet parts to convert all things to low water use.
That job sucked.
Carrying all those toilets up and down stairs and all the poo, barf and blood on them.
yuck.
Read that below.

Check to see if the flange is for cast iron or PVC it makes a difference in the ID and OD sizing, Good luck.Professional or shade tree, I don’t care. I’m on the final stretch of this overly long bathroom remodel, and need to throw the toilet in. Went to put my new flange in, and it doesn’t fit. Looks like the OD of my existing plumbing is 3”. I didn’t see a flange that would work at lowes/Home Depot. Suggestions?? Is there a part somewhere that I can use to make this work?View attachment 284578View attachment 284579
