Has anyone else had problems receiving the packet for CCW from OSBI? I went to web site and downloaded the form, but my understanding is they would also send the fingerprint card, or can you just wait and get them at the Sheriff's office.?

Its been a while....but I don't think they sent me a fingerprint card at all when I downloaded the form. Maybe if you got the package by snailmail. I dunno. Anyway, I got printed at Tulsa County Sheriff's, and they use no form. Its optical computer scan, which is better, because you can't get smeared, unreadable prints.

OSBI has stopped providing the fingerprint cards. They aren't used with the digital prints that are now now produced by most counties for submission back to OSBI. Many SO's had a big drawer full of blank print cards built up.

OSBI has also stopped providing the return envelopes with packets. They are providing them directly to the sheriff's offices, per OSBI.

The forms provided on the OSBI website are sufficient these days.

Hey Marvin I have had my CCW since 2000 and just renewed the permit again this year for 10 years (Awesome) the best way I have found is simply go to the OSBI office at 63rd and broadway area. Exit 63rd st, turn left over bridge go to the first stop light turn right, it is the first building on the left turn. Hope this helps.

The way the application process works is that the applicant goes to the sheriff's office of their county of residence first. If the prints get kicked by OSBI on the initial submission, then the applicant goes back to that county for a 2nd try. If they get kicked a 3rd time, the applicant goes to OSBI.

The purpose of the process going through the county of residence is to catch all pending legal issues that may not have hit other data bases.

If you can get good prints done at a SO, other than your residence county, that's great; just don't count on it. Same deal with OSBI doing initial prints; don't count on it.

Great, I live in Canadian Co. Glad to hear about the digital finger printing.:woohoo1:

Before you kick up your heels too much, you should know that the fingerprint machine is in the booking waiting area of the jail.

Park your fanny down next to the dudes in orange jumpsuits, and try not to make too much smalltalk. LOL.

This "in the gray bar hotel" location situation is typical of many of the smaller and other not-so-small counties. Some of them require an appointment, perhaps days or weeks in advance, to be escorted (not in an orange jumpsuit or silver bracelets) down into the jail for prints. Other counties have their digital machine located on the edge of the public/secure area so you won't be bumping elbows with "Killer" just to get prints done.
