Am trying to "reclaim" a dilapidated "farm house/hunting cabin." I had to gut the bathroom and am now trying to "reassemble" it. Am now reinstalling the toilet.

The tank to bowl gasket was similar to the one below: wedge shape. But the replacement I bought was like the one pictured underneath the wedge type: no bevel, just a flat bottom. The toilet is not an American Standard. Dunno what it is. But I'm thinking I might have gotten a gasket for an American Standard which is flat bottomed.

So, can I go from this:
shopping

To this:

I think either one would do, but if I had the choice I'd go with the red one (commonly sold under the "Korky" brand name). Tank-to-bowl gaskets are generally universal, though there are some oddballs out there.
When you figure out the part you bought, ISN"T the oddball part you needed...
