If you are in any sort of retention postion you will eat some hot gas. Personally, I'd never have a ported gun for carry. Works great at the range though. :D

I've only carried ported Glocks on duty and have had occassional gas during close quarters shooting. It didn't bother me much. If you found a great deal I'd say buy it.

Pro's: Less felt recoil and reduced muzzle rise.

Cons: Louder, slightly reduced velocities in some platforms, and as others have said gas issues.

I dont know that i would want a compensated carry gun, but if i found something i liked for a great deal, i wouldnt turn it down.

I have several ported firearms and think it works well. The only drawback I have encountered is on my snubbie 38. Any time you are shooting the pistol close to your body or are not holding it level the gas and burning powder winds up on you.
