Post Hole Digging in Clay

Been there, done that! And, that old black clay will beat you to death while you're at it. Ha! Those were the good old days.

Take care of your shoulders, they can wear out digging post holes-especially in clay. I dug a bit and filled it with water and let it set overnight and finished the next morning. But hey, if you're PhD you're too smart to be digging your own post holes!
I remember a business card I read once that advertised fences that said, "all our post holes are dug by PhD's- (post hole diggers).

Ditches and post holes. The only job where you start at the top and work your way down.

Seriously. We had a 3pt digger and we welded a bar and plate on the top so we could add tractor weights to get additional down-force.
