I've searched the internet and can't find any answer that works. I have a maytag washer with two belts. The drum does not spin. I've changed the belts. When I lower the lid in the spin cycle, the pump works (the belt spins for the pump) but the belt to the drum doesn't turn. If allowed to run, a burnt rubber smell will start. Any advice?

Is the belt slipping in the pulley? can you remove the belt on the drum and see if the pulley is spinning? if the pulley is spinng and the belt not turning, it sounds like a bearing is locked up where the drum is attached.

Just a guess on my part as i cant see what everything looks like in there.
