I tried to improve the looks of the Ruger by refinishing the wood grips. Failed badly, polyurethane was just too shiny.
Decided to polish the stainless steel, and found on some other forums that Mother's Mag Wheel Cleaner is really good. It is! Spent mebbe 5 or 6 manhours polishing the surfaces. I went by Ace Hdware and found a neat little buffer shaped like an artillery shell, turned out to be perfect for shining up the cutouts in the cylinder. Used the Dremel only on small areas like the trigger guard, it's easy to goof things up fast with the Dremel.
Notice that there was a scratch above the trigger guard, angling downard. It's gone!
Also refinished the wood using a spray on satin finish. Looks better...
Dude! I'm lovin' the challenge coins in these pics. I've got a centennial badge just like yours. Didya get the lapel pin too? My ol' buddy ef9turbo got me mine for a Christmas gift. He's quite a guy!
