The new Chiappa Rhino has revolutionized the revolver with a patented design that tames the prehistoric caracteristic that most revolvers possess. For starters, the appearance is like no other revolver you have ever seen. Typically a revolver fires from the top most chamber which is aligned with the barrel. The new Chiappa Rhino barrel is aligned with the bottom most chamber which is the key component to Rhino’s tame characteristics. Due to the lower position of the barrel, the Rhino’s appearance is abstract from any other revolver design.

Its angular design and the fact that it fires from the bottom chamber, unlike most other revolvers, gives it an appearance that closely resembled the legendary Mateba Autorevolver. Having a barrel fire from the lower chamber is supposed to help tame recoil and reduce muzzle flip.

Ugly is right, but they do have some pretty grips. It would be neat to shoot one, just to say you did.

Have they actually been released yet? All my suppliers only list the .22cal 1911s that Chiappa has always had.

Its an interesting concept for sure. Looks like it would feel funny in the hand, the way the trigger looks so low compared to the grip. May just be cause the whole thing looks so different.

In its current form the revolver probably lacks sufficient ATF "points" to be eligible for importation. It needs target grips, target sights, longer barrel, etc to get to this side of Lady Liberty.

24oz though - sounds as if the brick-like weight might have something to do with the mysterious low recoil
