So I thoroughly read all the hunting regulations in the guide booklet. I came up with 1 question/concern in my reading. & The only reason I was drawn to this topic is cause I've read posts on here about the same subject, although no post I've read seem to have brought up this question.
The topic is Deer Gun Regulations. The regulations state:
Legal means of taking
Rifle: Centerfire rifles firing at least a 55 grain weight soft-nose or hollow-point bullet and having an overall cartridge case length of 1.25 inches or longer (9mm rifles are not legal). Clips or magazines of all .22 caliber centerfire firearms may not be capable of holding more than seven rounds of ammunition.
So I understand this, as anyone who uses a .22 cal rifle (say an AR-15 in .223) must not have a magazine that can hold more than 7 rounds. But say I carry an AR-15 in .300 Blackout, 6.5 Creedmore, 6.8 SPC, etc., etc. I can carry more than 7 rounds (10, 20, 30) in the mag because it is not a .22 cal as specifically stated in the regulation.
I'm not saying I would carry a 20 or 30 rnd mag when deer hunting, cause I've never needed more than 2 when taking a deer, im just saying that I think the regulation isn't worded quite the way the rangers & game wardens quote it.

Yep you can go to the field with a 1000 round drum of .300blkout, but you're only allowed 7 .22 cal..................................................................................... :hithead:

As it reads you could also go afield with a 30 round magazine of 204 Ruger cartridges loaded with Berger 55 gr. BTHP bullets.

Whoever concocted the laws are obviously not knowledgeable about firearms.

.22 caliber is the smallest rifle caliber diameter, so .204 won't work either.

Edit, I see what you're saying now, that is how it reads. 55gr Bergers would make it almost a .222 Mag again lol.
