Seriously? No one reading the story caught this part?

The absolute best part of the story is, they hired private security guards to watch their car! They still got away with their suitcases but the guards prevented further theft.
I saw it, figured it spoke for itself and I didn't need to comment any further about it.

The “City Beat Poll” commissioned by the city’s chamber of commerce and conducted in late May also found that 70 percent of respondents believe the quality of life in the city has declined amid a rise in crime and homelessness, according to SFGate.com.

The poll comes amid a 753 percent spike in car break-ins at the police department’s central station compared to May 2020, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Thefts are up 75 percent compared to 2019, as well.

Meanwhile, in September, the city’s supervisors approved Mayor London Breed’s proposal, as part of the 2021 budget, to cut $120 million from the city’s law enforcement agencies over two years. The funds will be redirected to support the city’s black community.

Roughly $80 million will be stripped from the San Francisco Police Department budget over two years, reducing its nearly $700 million annual budget by almost 6 percent. Another $40 million in cuts will be imposed on the Sheriff’s Department.

However, the cuts did not stop the hundreds of demonstrators who attended a protest organized by the activist group Defund SFPD in front of San Francisco’s Mission High School in April. Some protesters held signs that read “abolish the police.”

Here, but occasionally There.
Wife and I were working as volunteers near Grants Pass, OR back in 2016/17 and had considered taking a few days to go down to San Francisco. Back in the '60's, I had toured the city some and really liked Golden Gate Park, but when we returned to there in 1969, they were redoing the park and the wife never got to see it. We had planned to certainly see the park, but after hearing about all the thefts from vehicles, with some saying that if you had an SUV, count on it getting broken into, we elected to NOT take that trip.

And, that was BEFORE all the pandemic stuff and defund the police movements.

There are people (many with govt positions) in these leftist cities that legitimacy believe that theft is just real time wealth redistribution. If you have something stolen from you it is due to your privilege and the thief deserved it more. Even if the people of these cities wanted to vote their way out of this they can't, the votes have been rigged and ballots stuffed for years. 1,400 printed ballots, pop-up voting stations likely gave Sawant an edge in surviving recall

Even if people somehow managed to beat a rigged election system it would matter.little as the government is already filled with communist in non elected.poaitions. Even the low level day to day government positions are all under the thumb of SEIU. Remember when we laughed at people who got a masters in things like "communist poets of color" and wondered where they would get jobs? Well they work for the government and are responsible for decisions that effect your entire life. And they are protected by a union and can't be fired.
