Anyone know of a maker that accomodates 1911s in condition 1? A lot of makers are now making their holsters where the hammer has to be down in order for the retaining strap to work. (talking horizontal holsters here).

Are Galco Holsters for 1911's Designed to be Carried

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All Galco holsters with safety straps and thumb breaks are designed to carry the 1911 with the "hammer down, chamber empty". Galco 1911 fit holsters that are "open top" (no safety strap and no thumbreak)are designed to accommodate 1911's in all safe "conditions" specified by the firearm manufacture.

All current Galco shoulder rigs have retention straps and thumb breaks and are designed to be carried hammer down, chamber empty. I have an old Miami Classic that was designed to be carried condition 1 with the retention strap between the hammer and firing pin. The reason is that there have been occasions where when the the thumb breaks were unsnapped, the safety was accidently disengaged.
