I hope this is not in the wrong place. I was wanting you guys and ladies to thoughts about cocked and locked shooters. I think my all time favorites are the browning hi-power and of course old slab sides 1911’s. In my world those two are tops. I have a couple of 1911’s, and 1 I am building. I also have a FEG hi-power, exact copy of a old browning. Browning parts will interchange with my FEG. It is a real shooter with either 124 or 147 grainers. Trigger is sweet. Wish it had better sights and bigger safety, but it’s good to go. Those, I think, are probably 2 of the best hand guns ever made. I know browning stopped production, and others have come out with clones, but my FEG shoots better than an original browning I shot. There is some chatter about Springfield maybe going to resurrect it. I guess time will tell. What are y’all’s thoughts on these 2 guns? Here’s a couple of pics of mine.

Love the Hi Power, great pistol. I rarely carry it though since the price has been steadily rising on them. Very Accurate, slender and also what John McClain should have carried in "Die Hard" (The pistol he carried in the book was a Hi Power.) I find myself though carrying smaller, lighter pistols with a similar capacity. I do not think they are obsolete, and site issues are easily fixed with aftermarket sites. By the way @adamsredlines, that is a nice Hi Power Practical, hard chrome frame, bead blasted blue slide.

Hi-Powers are one of my favorite designs. I’ve never been able afford a Browning. I have an Arcus 94, which is a da/sa variant. It’s a nice enough pistol, but it ain’t a Browning.

I favor the Hi-Power over the 1911. I've owned 7 1911's and 3 Hi-Powers over the years. Several years ago whittled it down to a Colt Gold Cup and a Hi-Power Practical. I like them both but the Hi-Power feels better in every way to me. Were I to carry one? The HP without hesitation.

My 2 favorite pistols!! My son has a Feg clone as well and after I changed out the springs in both Hi powers they are both accurate. My trigger is better but it cost more time and effort. I also added the SFS system to mine. Add my 4inch Taurus 357 and these by far are my favorite to shoot.

Cocked and locked is a good way to carry for me. It scares some folks to death. It is very important that the safety and firing mechanism is in perfect shape for cocked and locked carry. You mentioned that you are building the 1911s. Please ensure the safety system works when you're done. Building 1911s is one of my favorite pastimes too.
