Trax has the 638...silvery/aluminum frame, stainless barrel, wheel and crane. Mine is from 1985, when they still used the glossy/shiny blue/black finish and it wears walnut boot grips.

AND NO STINKIN' LOCK!!! :puke:

you won't be disappointed. i just took the dog for a walk in GED style wardrobe. didn't even take the pocket holster with no problems. i've got a 638 that falls in that magical place between +p rated and lock.

I am looking for a small wheel gun as well. While the S&W J-frame is a fine revolver platform, I am leaning to the Ruger LCR over the S&W for the following reasons:
1) The triggers on the LCRs that I have seen are better than the S&W's.
2) The Ruger LCR has a more favorable price compared to the S&Ws.
3) You can put better sights for a better price on the Ruger LCR than the S&W.

Get what you feel comfortable and confident with. If possible, And practice, practice and practice.

Lastly ... is that your daughter in your avatar?
