While walking across the pasture my granddaughter saw this:

So I told her it was a Monarch caterpiller. A few minutes later I got this:

She knew the Monarch's wintered in Mexico, but didn't know it was several generations between the spring and fall. She asked how they know to get there, all I could say was it was one of those mysteries of science.

Even though this one violates several rules of photography, I still like it. BTW, the flowers are orchids. I just learned that a couple of years ago.
Then this AM, I saw this:

No wonder she didn't kill a deer, we were too busy taking pictures. But we did see a nice buck and a doe.
