Something you don't see everyday

I saw this coyote walking down a row of round bales. Never seen that before.

You'll see that a lot with some kinds of hay.
He's hunting mice that are looking for grain.

I once parked on the side of the road and watched coyote snipe mice of a round bale for quite a while. He'd jump down and get his mouse, and then jump back up and look for more. He'd pounce on them like a cat.

This was before I carried a camera pretty much everywhere.

Coyotes are darned smart except when it comes to dealing with motor vehicles. CB

Great picture and I had no idea that they would have done that. I can only think of one other predator that is smarter than a coyote. But then again some people aren't that smart and also resemble sheep.

We have coyotes and bobcats get on our hay bales all the time. Gives them a great vantage point for seeing mice and rabbits.

We also see pheasants on the round bales in our neck of the woods.

Last year I was hunting behind some round bales and had a hawk fly in and land right next to me. He just sat there and stared at me for a few seconds and took off again.

Seen several coyotes hunting for mice and even one asleep on a bale of hay.
