No, earlier this week there was a premature announcement of his death and his family cleared but this, apparently, is the real thing. Star Trek the show kept me happy and interested in science (believe it or not) as a kid...along with the US once having had a space program. Kirk, Spock, and McCoy were were my second favorite trinity. May Leonard Nimoy rest in peace.

MeTV (5.2 in OKC) is going to run an evening of TV show episodes featuring Nimoy on Sunday (3/1).

Many of you may not know this, but Leonard Nimoy also had a role in the movie "Catlow," in which he was a bad guy. He played with Richard Crenna and Yul Brynner. Not that it would interest most people here, but in one fight scene, he is naked. The movie is based on a Louis L'Amour western book.

Sad news. His character was an alter ego to many of us. To have touched so many is a testimony to his skill as an actor and his humanity.

FWIW, MeTV is preempting the scheduled episodes of its programming for episodes of the same program that feature Nimoy. Ironically enough, Bonanza is on right now, and the episode they preempted (according to the on-screen display) featured DeForest Kelley as a doctor.
