They used the murderer of Ruby Ridge, Lon Horiuchi*, in their advertising, publishing his endorsement letter in their ad. Further, when called out on it, they doubled down on their stupidity.

While not the same type of trouble/problems being discussed in this posting/thread, Sabre Defense and Stag(both AR manufacturers) got into trouble with the .gov that resulted in some heads rolling and probably had some effect on profits.
