Wife an I did this for many years (back when we lived in Vegas). It is nothing like it seems on the show. It is possible to make money, but you have to be really careful (and lucky!!). We NEVER paid more than $100 for a storage unit, and that would only be for big units. Then we hauled it all home, sorted it, tossed most of it in the trash and sold what was left. Occasionally we made money, but often barely broke even. It's fun to do if you enjoy digging through some strangers stuff...and there can be a sense of adventure in it. But now that everyone is watching Storage Wars, there is WAY too much competition and the prices are WAY too high. Odds of making any money is pretty slim.

sounds like if you own a storage unit you could make some good money by putting in some junk left in other units and some locked trunks of junk. Don't put it past them folks as the game advances the money making schemes will ensue. JMO

I'll bet you're right.
