Danny Flowers wrote Tulsa Time while stuck in a Tulsa motel room during a snowstorm and watching The Rockford Files on television. Take that knowledge to the bar with you.

What Tulsan hasn't chopped down a palm tree?

For years, the only Tulsa song I knew was "24 Hours From Tulsa", sung by Gene Pitney and written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David.

For Tulsa specific songs, I like them both... two different eras and styles so I'm allowed ;)

For Oklahoma songs in general, y'all are missing some great ones. I present to you Mr. J.J. Cale and "If You're Ever In Oklahoma"

If you're ever in Oklahoma
You better move around at night
'Cause they don't like no transportation
Slipping by in-and-out of sight
And they don't care about Dallas,Texas
And they don't care about Wichita
If you're ever in Oklahoma
You better move around the law
They got fines and they got plenty
They'll hold you up for days on end
Threaten your life and take your money
Make you think you're there to stay

Said he met over Tulsa way
When he was just a kid

...and

THIS is Emmylou in her prime along with The Hot Band including Rodney Crowell singing "Tulsa Queen" ... GREAT stuff!

I heard the train
In the Tulsa night
Calling out my name
Looking for a fight
She's come a long, long way
Got a longer way to go
So tell me how a train from Tulsa
Has got a right to know

She sings a song
So sad and high
And the Tulsa Queen
Don't ever lie
And she don't care where she goes
Don't care where she's been
And the Tulsa Queen ain't crying
'Cause I won't see you again

And I want to ride
Like a Tulsa Queen
Calling out to you
As she calls to me
As far away from Tulsa
As these ten wheels can be

Lately I speak
Your name too loud
Each time it comes up
In a crowd
And I know it when I do
The Tulsa Queen and you
Are gone ...

... and

Here's The Boss doing the old Pete Seeger classic, "My Oklahoma Home"

Well it looked so green and fair when I built my shanty there
I figured I was all set for life
I put on my Sunday best with my fancy scalloped vest
Then I went to town to pick me out a wife

She blowed away (blown away), she blowed away (blown away)
My Oklahoma woman blown away
Mr as I bent to kiss her, she was picked up by a twister
My Oklahoma woman blown away

How about Gene Pitney - "24 Hours from Tulsa"? Taking it back way old school...
