Had a Judge for 3 years living in the Clearwater River valley in Idaho. Rattlesnake heaven. Killed 3 of 'em in 3 years in the yard and all with the .410 option. That was the extent of my firing the gun. It wasn't a bad revolver but I wish I'd had a Gov instead for reasons others have stated.

If anyone is worried about recoil, don't be. They shoot quite softly with 2.5" .410 shells.

I dont own either, but if I was to get one, it would be the S&W!

Why, you might ask!

Just about all Smiths I have ever handled had a decent trigger right out of the box.

And the Smith is (hopefully still) made in USA

I've had a Judge in the past. While I did not shoot it much at all, I didn't see any mechanical issues with mine. There is a difference in quality, as one would expect, between the Judge and the S&W. I let the Judge go years back, and have held on to the S&W.
