Very cool indeed. I know a few dog trainers and work with a couple of them. They use positive reinforcement to work "with" them which is really bond making and those dogs equally rely on their trainers/owners for every move. It's fascinating. And the silly dogs work for a ball! Literally. If they get it right (whatever they're training), they get to chase the ball. How simple.
In my time in SE Asia, we had dobermans. Every day, we could see the NVA carrying mortar tubes and ammo into a wooded area. Asking for permission to take action, we were always denied, as intel said no problem.
After the third night of mortars, they "accidentally" let the dobbies loose.

I have a buddy who is a TPD K-9 officer whose partner is a young Malinois. He's a great dog, very energetic and enthusiastic about doing his job. Oh, and he LOVES that ball!
"accidentally"? Nice. That accident probably saved numerous US lives. Did the dobbies train with a clicker and a ball?
