I started using the ignore list feature and it works wonders until you venture into one of "those" threads and 2/3 of the posts are missing.

The posts are collapsed, not missing. I use a GreaseMonkey script to hide the person on my ignore list, works wonders! Even posts that quote or mention that person are hidden.

how do you make said list?

You'll need Firefox plus the GreaseMonkey extension.

Then you'll have to save the script below to your drive and edit the list, then uncomment(remove the //) from the line that says //allTable.style.display="none";
Then drag it into FireFox and it will prompt you to install it.
