It's difficult to determine if a more appropriate statute could be applied, but O.S. §21-341 would appear to apply. It's a felony punishable by $500 fine and 1-20 years in the pen.

O.S. §21-1451 could be applied as well, which for the listed amount would be a felony worth $5K and 1-5 in the pen.

It's a shame. My understanding is that under Glanz leadership, the TCSO really reigned crime in. Clark, the recently fired deputy, said, it's only been this last term that Glanz has been sliding. This whole cover-up attempt really puts the nail in the career-coffin. I also think the bar should investigate Terry Simonson. He made a lot of public threats every step of the way. It could be construed as witness intimidation.

Cronyism & corruption will never die in Oklahoma until people like Glanz are exposed and prosecuted.

This, Gotta go with SMS on this one. Just because Stipe is dead, don't think the tradition is. Some of his kin still think he did nothing wrong.

TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- The wife of a former Oklahoma sheriff says the criminal charges against him are "just a terrible attack."

Prosecutors formally filed two misdemeanor counts shortly before the hearing accusing the ex-Tulsa County sheriff of willfully violating the law and refusing to perform his official duty.

Glanz, who resigned Nov. 1, declined to comment on the charges after the hearing. The judge released him on his own recognizance and set another hearing for Jan. 20.
