If no large pieces are missing, you can put silicone caulk in the cracks to keep 'em from shedding concrete dust.

Time to toss those out. The cement inside took on some moisture and they’ve expended and cracked the plastic

Ha! I bought a used set from a teenager once without looking at 'em first. You'd be surprised what they'll attempt without supervision...

They can also just be dropped accidentally.
