6.5 X .284 & 6.5-06 should be pretty close to what I get with my Ruger 77 in 6.5 Rem Mag. Great deer rifle; only problem I ever had was with the Remington factory ammo - jacket in the 120 grain bullets are too thin for the velocity.

Ruger Mark II in 30-06 stainless, composite, and Timney trigger will be the primary gun. If it breaks, I'll have a Remington short action 7mm-08 as backup, put together with a stainless barrel, rough "blue" short 700 receiver, Timney trigger, and Hogue stock. Shoots great.

If one gets real close, my hog gun, a scoped super Redhawk in .454 Casull, may get a chance.

Ill be out with one of the following. A Winchester 94 30-30 iron sights, Mossberg 500 loaded with rifles slugs 28inch barrel with bead sights, and if one gets close enough (max 30m) my G20 10mm. The 30-30 will limit me to a ~100m radius, the mossberg to ~50m, and I already mentioned the 10mm.

Hiding from all you crazy people!!!
Bringing the M70 .264WM out of retirement this year. Got a 120gr NOS BT load made up the gun seems to like. Usually run 140s but I wanted to drop it down this year.
Hopefully I can find something to test it out on.
But, the next two weeks will be spent with the Creed. Chasing that Kansas Giant....

The little Whelen with the VX3 1.75-6x. It's really my perfect deer gun. Tiny, light, simple, thumb safety, medium caliber thumper. It's the length of a '94 and not much heftier than my .44 Carbine (which I never take out even though I say I will), and it does everything better...once.
