Just don't tell me you went to OU from 79 to 82. I might have "found you" back then.

Just don't tell my wife, she never understood collage.

I worked part/full time while I went, and paid all my bills.
Just glad I still have the memories!

Lol ... sorry no ... I visited OU a few times to catch up with friends but I didn't go to school there. I hear ya about the working all the time ... talk about burning the candle at both ends lol ... and like you I wouldn't have done it any other way ... some of my fondest memories are from of my college days ...

Spent a little time at Louie's in Stillwater. Also, the pool hall across the corner from the campus fire station; can't remember the name.

I went back for a Bachelor's and teaching credentials when I was 46 years old.

Early in my undergraduate studies I got a student worker job in a computer lab,,,
I turned what was just feeding printers into a sort of help desk,,,
In short I made myself very valuable to the lab.

When I got the BS I started in for my Masters still working at the lab,,,
But now I was a graduate assistant assisting the faculty use the on-line classroom.

Three years later when I graduated with the Master's,,,
They took my grad assistant job and made it a full-time position,,,
I worked very hard making myself invaluable and it turned into a career for me.

Now, what fueled me?

10 oz. Bud draws for 75 cents apiece at Joseppi's Italian Kitchen in Stillwater,,,
$3.75 for five beers and $1.25 tip pretty much every weeknight.

Oddly enough I never wen out on weekends.

I got up at 4:30 every weekday morning,,,
I did my studying then when my brain was fresh,,,
After classes and 6-8 hours on the job I just wanted to relax,,,
And Joseppi's provided the cheap beer and a nice chair to do that in.

I lived in a tiny efficiency apt,,,
One 10 by 12 room with a tiny kitchenette.

I'll retire in about 41 months,,,
Or I might decide to keep on working.

But that's how I got here,,,
And how I did it.

Drank and partied all the time. Worked at a bar through school. Missed classes, showed up late or hung over. Academic probation a couple of times. Left for awhile and then went back to finish. Got my piece of paper. Had a good time.

Went to class, worked, drank a lot of cheap or free beer. I was a broke kid whose parents contributed only an opinion and not money. Lots if ramen noodle, patio burrito, and totinos pizza dinners if I was lucky. Now I'm living the high life. I don't have to drink lone star or the beast light

19 hrs / semester had to maintain GPA to keep scholarship.
Worked 24 - 30 he's / wk
Partied all weekend.

Treated college like a job. Got to school everyday, mon-fri, 730am-5pm. Worked in Library and tutored kids between classes. On weekends I do what I do now. Anything I want.

Partied way to much and didn't goto class so I flunked out. Partied 6 nights a week. Worked out 2 times a day 6 days a week. Barely showed to class and didn't do the homework I blew over $6000 in student loan money partying in one semester. Yep still paying for that. But hey I had fun and have a lot of stories. Oh and worked a full time maintenance/groundskeeping/trash collector job to boot.
